Evidence Prime Joins EU-CIP to Improve Cancer Care
Advancing Cancer Care: Evidence Prime’s Role in the European Cancer Patient Digital Centre (ECPDC) Information Portal
Evidence Prime is proud to be a partner in the European Cancer Patient Digital Centre (ECPDC) Information Portal. An ambitious initiative dedicated to improving the lives of cancer patients, survivors, their relatives, and caregivers across Europe.
What is EU-CIP?
The European Cancer Information Portal (EU-CIP) project (GA 101214125) is funded with approximately 12 million euros under the HORIZON program and is a key component of the European Cancer Patient Digital Centre (ECPDC). It aims to develop a patient-centric cancer information portal that enhances health literacy, empowers patients, and reduces disparities in access to cancer care information. This network will help policymakers develop data-driven, evidence-based policies and improve the innovation capabilities of Critical Infrastructure (CI) operators, authorities, and innovators.
A Shared Resource for Europe
At the core of EU-CIP will be a Common Library of Contents, accessible to all EU Member States. This library will draw on evidence-based sources such as the Knowledge Centre on Cancer, the European Cancer Information Service, existing Cancer Information Portals, and European guidelines. Ten Member States will deploy EU-CIP nodes to provide localized, patient-focused access to this shared knowledge base.
The portal will develop and establish:
- A governance framework for scalable content creation and review, supported by AI tools.
- Collaboration with numerous organisations to ensure content reflects the perspectives of patients and caregivers.
- Integration with health infrastructures, thanks to a modular design that aligns with national systems.
Alignment with Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan
EU-CIP directly supports the EU Cancer Mission’s goal of saving lives through prevention and improved care. It will also raise awareness about Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan and coordinate with related EU-funded projects to strengthen the mission’s overall impact.
Evidence Prime’s Contribution
There are multiple diverse organisations involved in the initiative, all of whom are working together on joint endeavours, and individually on their own projects that all fit into the bigger picture.
Our contribution to this consortium involves developing an advanced virtual assistant, an evolution of our existing RecChat. This AI-powered conversational search assistant will empower patients to navigate the vast array of resources available and quickly find accurate answers to their health-related questions.
